1. Christmas Charades: Acting Out Holiday Fun
Nothing gets the party rolling like charades!
For this family Christmas party game, make a list of holiday actions, like “wrapping presents,” “Santa sneaking down the chimney,” or even “decorating a Christmas tree.” We split into teams, and each player acts out a word or phrase while their teammates try to guess what it is. It’s hilarious to see everyone get super into it, especially the little ones who love being “elves” and “reindeer!”
2. Snowman Bowling
This is one of my favorite family Christmas party games, especially because it’s perfect for kids! We use these Chuck and Roar bowling pins and turn them into adorable snowmen by drawing faces on them with erasable markers and tying little fabric scarves around their “necks.” Then, we take turns bowling with a small soft ball, seeing who can knock down the most snowmen in one go. Easy to set up, festive, and so much fun for the little ones!
3. Christmas Bingo: Easy and Festive!
If you’re looking for Christmas party ideas that are great for all ages, Christmas Bingo is perfect. We use bingo cards filled with holiday images (think Santa, candy canes, and reindeer), and each person marks off an item as it’s called. The first one to get five in a row wins! It’s a nice little break from active games and keeps everyone happily occupied. You can buy a set of bingo cards here.
4. Pin the Nose on Rudolph (With a Twist)
For this family Christmas party game, I made a Rudolph using poster board, which works really well for the kids to have something sturdy to “pin” the nose onto. Blindfold each player, give them a red nose, and see who can get it the closest to Rudolph’s actual nose. It’s so funny to see where those noses end up—last year we had one practically on Rudolph’s ear!
5. Christmas Scavenger Hunt for the Littles (With Free Printable!)
This one is a hit with the younger kids in our family, especially the under-6 crowd. I made a printable scavenger hunt card filled with Christmas images and matching printable templates to cut out and tape around the house. The kids have to find the matching images hidden around the house. They get so excited to check each one off! It’s simple, interactive, and perfect for little kids who love exploring. 6. Holiday Pictionary: For All the Artists (and Non-Artists!)
Pictionary always brings out everyone’s creative side! In this Christmas party game, we draw holiday items like snowmen, candy canes, and Christmas trees. The catch? You can’t use words, only drawings, and it’s on a time limit. This game is always full of laughs because, let’s be real—my drawing skills are more “abstract” than anything, and the kids usually end up creating their own interpretations!
7. Christmas Movie Trivia
We love bringing some holiday magic to the party with a good round of Christmas Movie Trivia. It’s a low-key family Christmas party game, perfect for winding down or playing while enjoying snacks. I create trivia questions around popular Christmas movies like Home Alone, Elf, and The Grinch. It’s fun to see who remembers the little details—my siblings and I get pretty competitive with this one!
8. Three-Legged Gift Wrap Relay Race
This one’s hilarious and a favorite among Christmas party ideas for those who love a good challenge! Pair up everyone and tie their legs together to make a three-legged team, then tie one of each of their arms to make it even more challenging. Each pair has to wrap a present as quickly as possible with their three legs and one arm each. The first team to finish wins, and let me tell you—there’s usually lots of laughter and some very creative wrapping involved!
9. Saran Wrap Prize Ball Game
We make a giant ball of Saran wrap and hide little prizes in each layer, like candies and small toys. Each player takes turns rolling dice, and as soon as they roll doubles, they get a shot at unwrapping the Saran wrap as fast as they can. When the next person rolls doubles, the ball has to pass along! This family Christmas party game gets super competitive, and everyone gets excited to see what prizes they can snag before the ball moves on.
10. Christmas Karaoke Challenge
For this final game, we bring out the karaoke machine (or just YouTube videos if you don’t have one!) and play some classic Christmas carols. But here’s the twist: the music stops randomly, and the person singing has to keep going with the lyrics. If they get it wrong, they’re out! This game always ends with a lot of laughs, and it’s one of those Christmas party ideas that really gets everyone in the holiday spirit.
